I am not 100 percent Irish, but I know a bit of me can be traced back to Irish roots.

Here’s a nice little Irish proverb for you as you go about your day celebrating the Luck of the Irish: “May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light. May good luck pursue you each morning and night.”

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

UNIFORMS AT CHS

Standard Student Attire, or shall we say uniforms, to be or not to be? Carson High School is considering adopting a uniform policy next year for the 2013-2014 school year.

Input is currently being gathered from various groups, such as teachers and students. Now it is time for the parents and community members to weigh in with their opinions.

Coming up will be two opportunities for parents to give their opinions and suggestions for standard student attire. There will be two meetings to choose from: Tuesday and March 27 at 6 p.m. in Senator Square.

EIGHTH-GRADE ORIENTATION

Monday and Wednesday there will be an eighth-grade parent orientation at Carson High School. Both nights will start at 6 p.m. and last about an hour in the Big Gym.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

If you didn’t have a chance to get out this weekend and see our CHS students perform “Little Shop of Horrors,” never fear, there are more shows this week.

Shows are 7 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. There also will be a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday.

All shows take place at the Community Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

CHS BASEBALL AT ACES BALLPARK

Mark your calendars for this unprecedented event. CHS baseball will take on Reed High School on April 5. However, it won’t be played at either CHS or Reed.

The game is scheduled to be played at the Reno Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno. To purchase tickets, contact Todd Thomsen at 775-691-8139.

First pitch is at 4 p.m. Come support your CHS Senators at Aces Ballpark.

CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS

If you are interested in cheering for CHS next year, there are some mandatory meetings coming up. A mandatory meeting for parents and cheerleaders will be 6 p.m. April 9 at the CHS library.

Try-outs will follow at 3 p.m. April 10-12 in Senator Square.

An athletic packet must be completed and turned in to Kathy Taylor in the Athletic Department by 8 a.m. April 8.

Please include a copy of your third-quarter grades with the packet. For more information, contact coach Marissa Beck at 775-690-8186.
