A new effort to attract ideas and reactions from residents begins Wednesday at a Carson City Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Called Dialogue 2013, the first attempt in a series of sessions will be at a chamber Soup’s On lunch at 11:30 a.m. in the Silver Oak Executive Conference Center. The chamber and chamber board want input on why people live, work and play in Carson City.
Goals include determining what is called 20/20 vision for the year 2020, along with people’s ideas on how to get there in such uncertain times, according to a chamber news release.
“These highly charged questions will begin the dialogue that could be the tipping point for future growth of Carson City with all regions of the city chiming in,” the chamber said.
The cost for the first event is $15 with reservations or $20 at the door. Reservations must be in by 5 p.m. Monday and can be made by calling 775-882-1565. Soup’s On is open to the public.
There will be subsequent events, according to the chamber, including for the business community, senior citizens groups, the Latino community and children.
With the economy rebounding nationwide, in the chamber’s view, “Carson City now is well poised to grow and prosper in the right direction” with the help of citizen input.
The chamber said its dialogue could dovetail with a written survey that city government is having done, in which 4,000 mailings will seek answers to various questions.
