As many as 350 supply-chain professionals are expected in Reno for a two-day regional conference in early June.
The conference sponsored by the Northern Nevada Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is scheduled for June 6-7.
Melanie Lawler of the logistics management program at Truckee Meadows Community College said the conference marks an ambitious expansion of a smaller event — one afternoon, largely local attendance — that the group has sponsored. Among the highlights of the conference will be a regional award for supply chain innovation.
It’s modeled after a national award in which winning executives present a case study to conference attendees.
Also scheduled, Lawler said, will be “Name Your Own Breakout Sessions” in which pre-registered participants will suggest topics for in-depth discussion.
Among the major topics scheduled are a discussion of the future of an inland port development in northern Nevada, an overview of international laws and environmental regulations that affect the logistics industry and a review of major issues facing the supply chain industry.
