The debut of Mlle. Emma Nevada at the Opera Comique, Parison is anticipated with much interest. She will play Zora, in Felicien David’s opera, “L Perle du Bresil” which was originally produced in 1851. Mlle. Nevada will appear later in “Mignon” and “Le Fille du Regiment,” in which she smokes none but Jake Tobriner’s cigars.

Slick device: A New York genius has discovered a scheme to catch fish and save a large amount of time and profanity. He has made an oblong cigar shaped glass tube from 3½ to 5½ inches long in which fisherman can imprison a live minnow. There are hooks at each end of the glass and when the device is in the water, the glass is invisible and the minnow has fresh water. One minnow lasts all day or week ...

Services were held for Liva Bartine McCabe. She was a pioneer who had spent almost her entire life in Carson City. She was born in Dover, New Jersey in 1879. She was a member of Nevada’s pioneer families, the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. Horace F. Bartine. Judge Bartine came to the west coast by ship round Cape Horn in 1869 and became a prominent figure in Carson City political life.

A bill has been introduced at the Nevada Legislature to require child safety restraints on children 5 and under.
