NAI Alliance, a Reno-based brokerage, is in the process of expanding to northeastern Nevada and expects to open an office on Idaho Street in Elko by July.
Kim Owen will be the office’s first hire. Owen has been with an NAI affiliate since 2008 and moved to Elko to spearhead efforts there in mid-2011.
Opening an office in the heart of Elko’s downtown is a key element in increasing NAI’s presence in the Elko market, Owen says.
“It promotes our brand,” Owen says. “NAI is an international company, and we get a lot of people in Elko that come from other markets, so brand recognition is really important. Also, Elko is a very small community, and locals like to have a place where they can walk in and talk face-to-face. A retail storefront gives them that direct contact.”
Owen will focus on selling commercial and industrial real estate, multi-family and retail properties throughout Elko County.
Ray Tuntland, multi-family, land and investment specialist with the Reno office of NAI Alliance, agrees that having shop space on Idaho Street enhances NAI’s standing in the close-knit community.
“It shows a higher level of commitment than what was being given before,” he says. “Having a storefront on the main drag will get people to wander in, and all our competitors have storefronts on Idaho Street. It is kind of what you need to do.”
