Suspects in Carson chase, collision identified

A pair in a stolen car that crashed into another vehicle Saturday in Carson City, sending three people to the hospital, have been identified.

According to their arrest reports:

Shortly before 4 p.m., a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy noticed a black Honda Accord had been stopped for a long time at Fifth Street and Parkland Avenue. The deputy approached the driver, thinking he might need assistance.

He recognized William Vuki Wilson Jr. of Dayton from previous investigations and checked the Honda’s license plate information. As the deputy communicated on his radio, learning the car had been reported stolen out of Sparks, Wilson, 32, drove away.

The deputy notified other units, and another deputy spotted the Honda driving at high speeds near Roop and Robinson streets. Other deputies joined the pursuit, which reached about 80 mph.

Wilson ran a red light while turning onto U.S. Highway 50 East, nearly causing a crash. The Honda then struck a 2012 Hyundai at Fairview Drive and U.S. Highway 50, disabling both vehicles. Wilson tried to flee on foot but was stopped by an off-duty peace officer who’d seen the crash. Wilson’s passenger, Dominique Marie Campora, 23, of Auburn, Calif., also tried to flee. A deputy detained her.

Wilson fought deputies, punching one in the face. Wilson suffered face, head and leg injuries during the crash and altercation. Campora suffered lacerations to her face, knees and lip.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Wilson and Campora also were flown to Renown.

Wilson was arrested on suspicion of eluding a police officer with substantial harm, DUI drugs first offense with substantial harm, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving with substantial bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident, battery on a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $106,000.

Campora was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic device, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a peace officer. Her bail was set at $4,750.
