The Nevada State Railroad Museum will present its annual Santa Train on Saturday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 14-15.

The historic V&T Railway steam locomotive No. 25 pulls Santa Train and departs Carson City’s Wabuska Depot at Fairview Drive and Carson Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Trains run continuously throughout the day, regardless of weather. Each trip leaves the depot as soon as Santa and passengers have boarded.

Santa Trains are first-come, first-served, so passengers are advised to arrive early. Tickets cost $3; children 3 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available at the depot on days the train operates.

Exhibits of restored locomotives and rolling stock in the museum’s main building are available for viewing before and after rides. A new display includes historic model trains that depict a century of railroad evolution. Museum admission is $6 for adults and free for members and visitors 17 and younger. The museum store offers railroad books, toys, clothing and other Nevada items. Special this year is merchandise celebrating Nevada’s 150th anniversary of statehood. The store also features “Waiting for the Cars,” a book of 3-D images that documents railroads, life and places in Nevada and California Gold Country in the 1860s.
