Abraham Curry (continued from Tuesday). Curry had given Dr. Ah Kee’s daughter many American-made dresses, one of which he had given the girl the day before he was stricken down. She had begged to see Curry and was allowed to be in the procession, wearing that very dress he had given her. First the Ritual of the Red Men was read by the Sachem of the Storey County Lodges. Then the ritual of the Odd Fellows. Then the ritual of the Masonic ritual and prayer. During the day the Mint was closed as well as all city and state offices. The bank was closed as well as all saloons (continued on Thursday).

To the Editor. From Greenfield, Mason Valley: The fair at this place opened Monday as fine a display of stock consisting of short horn Durham cattle as ever shown in the state. Fine, large draft horses of the Clyde and English coach stock were present as well as fruits and vegetables ­— the finest ever grown in the valley (continued Thursday).

Election of officers for companies A and C of the Nevada National Guard was held in the Reno City Hall last night. Out of the 65 members of Company A, 47 voted electing captain A.W. Cahlan; first lieutenant, W.O. Wright; second lieutenant, M.E. Jepson. Forty-five out of 60 members of Company C voted, electing captain S.E. Ross; first lieutenant John Pohland; second lieutenant C.T. Spooner.

A new victory ship, “Carson City,” is to be launched in Southern California and will be christened by Mrs. C.B. Austin, wife of Mayor Austin, it was announced at the Carson City Rotary Club meeting yesterday.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board gave preliminary approval for 21 businessmen to sell up to $10 million in stock to finance a casino in downtown Reno that will cater mostly to Asians.
