Work at the Round House: The mammoth 180 foot front of the railroad structure presents a striking appearance with its 11 ironbound doors and 11 smoke stacks. From within each doorway enters a track that diverges from the round table about 75 yards from the center of the building. The intervening space was filled by a swarm of Chinese men who kept travelling back and forth on a train of six flats to and front the cuts along the road towards the tunnel where they loaded sand obtained from the rocky hill. The turntable is the iron machine that cars are to be turned on is 16 1/2 tons ... from Sellers’ Co. Philadelphia. The work is under the direction of C. L. Anderson, civil engineer.
