Northern Nevada high school robotics teams gathered at Western Nevada College on Saturday for the start of the 2013-2014 FIRST Tech Challenge.
FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is a national organization that promotes science and technology to students grades 7-12.
The kick-off event offered the opportunity for students to see the reveal of the 2013-2014 Tech Challenge game, and strategize about the new FIRST Tech Challenge season. Teams are tasked with designing, building and programming robots to compete in the challenge season.
WNC’s involvement in the FIRST Tech Challenge began two years ago when networking instructor Dave Riske volunteered his expertise as a field tech co-adviser.
