A wide range of issues facing manufacturers in Nevada will be in the spotlight during the Sierra Region Manufacturers Conference in Carson City on Oct. 9.
The conference scheduled at the Carson City Nugget Casino has been organized by Northern Nevada Development Authority, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and Nevada Industry Excellence.
The organizers note that manufacturers in Nevada account for 3.4 percent of the state’s workforce and 86 percent of its exports.
Keynote speaker Ian Hill, chief executive officer of The Changing Point, will discuss “How to Set a Climate for Business Growth.”
Also scheduled is a presentation by Dairy Farmers of America on the potential impacts of its dry-milk plant at Fallon.
Other subjects will include:
Operational strategies (lean manufacturing, how to coach and train today’s workforce, and cybersecurity).
Human resources (best practices in outsourcing, developing effective leaders, skills certifications and employee retention).
Energy efficiency (case studies for energy efficiency upgrades and solutions and energy rebate programs).
Business growth (exports, building business value while reducing risk, launching an expansion, foreign trade zones and succession planning).
