Tricycle obstacle course part of Street Vibrations

As adults meander through the Freaks of Nature Show & Shine on Saturday as part of Carson City Street Vibrations, children will have their own entertainment downtown as well.

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada will be hosting the Street Vibrations Kids Trike Obstacle Course on Telegraph Street between Curry and Nevada streets.

“I think it’s going to be really fun,” said Lu Olsen, director of the Children’s Museum.

The tricycles will be on loan from Fremont Elementary School, and while the race is designed for children, all ages are welcome.

“I’m picturing the little ones between the ages of 3 and 9 will have the most fun, but we’re thinking the teenagers will probably get into it as well,” Olsen said. “Even parents might want to do it with their kids. They can race against each other.”

The obstacles along the course will be physical challenges, such as push-ups and assorted yoga positions.

A Bicycle Show and Shine will happen at the same time, with prizes in seven categories: Street, mountain, most banged up, smallest, largest, oldest and best all around.

The day will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis of the Sierra Nevada from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $7 ticket for adults $3 for children also will serve as free admission to the museum. The grand opening of the STEM Lab and Science Room, built by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class, will run through 4:30 p.m.

Street Vibrations activities will run all day in downtown Carson City, with Bike Games presented by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at noon and 4 p.m.

It will culminate with a street dance at 7 p.m.
