Easter egg hunts planned this weekend

• The annual Carson City Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday at Centennial Park, with 12,000 eggs. It will begin with a hunt designated for children with special needs at 11:30 a.m., and the general hunt will begin at noon. Admission is free.

• Capital Christian Center is hosting its third annual Eggs-Stravaganza at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mark Twain Elementary School, 2111 Carriage Crest St. This hunt featuring 15,000 candy-filled eggs is free. There will be zones designated for toddlers through 11-year-olds, with a separate zone for kids with special needs. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.

• First Baptist Church, 1750 N. Mountain Ave., will hold a Good Friday Communion Service at 6 p.m. today and an Easter Service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt immediately following the Sunday service on the church grounds for children through the fifth grade. For more information, call 882-1851 or go to ccfbc.org.

• Abandoned Treasures in Dayton will hosts its first Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday for children ages 1-12. There will be prizes, boiled eggs, baskets and candy. Gentle barn with Beth Gee and Cowboy Don will be there so children can pet and feed the animals. There is no cost to attend.

• The 19th annual Lahontan State Recreation Area Easter Egg Hunt will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Silver Springs day-use area. Plastic Easter Eggs filled with candy will be hidden for children through age 5, 6 to 9 and 10 to 12. There will also be a raffle that includes gift certificates, food vouchers and toy- and candy-filled Easter baskets. The event is open to the public and there is no entry fee. • The Minor family in Dayton hosts its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday at Minor Ranch. Participants are asked to bring one dozen hard-boiled, colored eggs for each child between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Children will be divided into groups 0 to 3, 4 to 7 and 8 years and older. Take Dayton Valley Road onto Minor Ranch Road across from Dayton Valley Golf Course and follow the signs. For more information, call 775-246-0843.
