Findlay Automotive Group follows a cautious approach as it expands its network of auto dealerships across the Southwest — a network that includes Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships that are opening Reno this month.
“We like to grow in markets where we already have locations,” says Tyler Corder, the chief financial officer of the Las Vegas-based company, which now operates 32 dealerships.
Findlay Automotive acquired the Audi dealership in South Meadows three years ago. When sales at the dealership exceeded expectations, Findlay began looking for opportunities to expand its footprint in northern Nevada.
The company purchased the Land Rover dealership about a year ago from Scott Motors as the Scott family exited the auto business.
Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC, the British parent of the two brands, approved the addition of the Jaguar brand as Findlay pledged to build a $4 million dealership facility for Land Rover and Jaguar sales and service.
Matt Nicol is general manager of the new 16,334-square-foot dealership at 9150 S. Virginia St.
The new dealerships will lead to additional employment of three to five people. Findlay employs 11 at the existing Audi dealership.
Boyd Martin Construction of Las Vegas was the general contractor on the project.
