Beekeeping event set for Yerington

People can learn more about beekeeping at the fourth annual Mason Valley Beekeepers Conference, set for Feb. 28 through March 1 at Pioneer Crossing Convention Center, 11 N. Main St. in Yerington.

Topics will include products of the hive, starting a bee colony, bee biology, pests and diseases, uses of honey and queen rearing. Other activities include a silent auction, raffle and door prizes.

The event begins from 6:30-9 p.m. Feb. 28 with a meet and greet that includes presentations from three beekeepers. The next day’s conference will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature several breakout sessions with speakers.

Registration costs $25 per person or $40 per couple if registered by Feb. 15.
