Nevada education officials are making it easier for students to pass a math-proficiency test that’s required for graduation but has proved tough for high schoolers.
State board of education officials announced Wednesday that they would implement a pass score of 242 on the 500-point math portion of the high school proficiency exam.
The score will apply to current sophomores and juniors, who are the only ones still required to pass the proficiency exam.
The test is being replaced with end-of-course assessments.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Clark County School District students struggled with the previous passing threshold of 300 points.
The newspaper reports 68 percent of district students failed the math portion the first time they took it using the 300-point standard.
