Fernley girl killed by alleged drunk driver

A 5-year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a car Thursday afternoon.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the girl was hit shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of 7th street in Fernley. Paramedics were unable to revive the girl.

Deputies say the driver, 53-year-old Patricia Anderson, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing death. She is being held on $40,115 bail.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is handling the death investigation of the child and the arrest of the driver. The Nevada Highway Patrol is handling the accident investigation.
