The comings and goings of a gifted young lady by the name of Blaser seem to take up a large part of the time and attention of the swain who does the “brief and abstract” chronicles of the time for the Eureka Sentinel — the name “Blaser” suggests the lambent flame of love — Eureka Sentinel.

The First Annual Picnic of the A.O.U.W. of Storey County will take place at Steamboat Springs on the Fourth of July, 1884. Game programme — rifle shooting, first prize $45 gold coin to the team of 10 men making the best score; second prize $30 gold coin to the team making the second highest. There will also be glass ball shooting, ladies race, old ladies race, girls race, old men’s race, sack race, wheelbarrow race ... a large dance hall has been erected in the park, where all fond of dancing can indulge. Trains will leave Virginia City at 7:15 a.m. and Gold Hill at 7:30 a.m. stopping at Mound House and Carson ... Professor Cara’s Brass Band will accompany the excursion from Virginia ...

The 4th of July will begin with a colorful parade before the third and final day of the rodeo at the Carson Hot Springs. The dance at Carson Hot Springs was dedicated to the Nevada cowboys. The wild cow milking contest which always furnishes a great deal of amusement was won by Ambro Rossaschi, Yerington.
