The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.
SILVER DOLLAR: All those involved in The Greenhouse Project deserve to be recognized. This year’s Concert Under the Stars benefiting The Greenhouse Project will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cafe at Adele’s. Those who attend the event this year will be treated to the nostalgic sounds of the “Little River Band.”
The Greenhouse Project is a worthy, multi-faceted organization, with one of its major aims involving the youth of this community to provide nutritional food for the area’s low income. There will be another worthy youth organization helped on Wednesday as a Chair-ity Silent Auction will be held to support the Capitol FFA. A live auction will also be held to benefit the Greenhouse Project.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all the players from across Northern Nevada who have earned the right to play in the ongoing District I Little League Tournament at various levels at Governors Field. Also, all those involved in organizing the tournament and volunteering in Little League — from umpires to administrators — deserve to be recognized.
WOODEN NICKEL: This one is long overdue, but to Xerox for botching the state’s health exchange website — Nevada Health Link. No matter where you stand on the Affordable Care Act, there’s no denying Xerox was hired to do a job — at the taxpayers’ expense — and didn’t do it. It’s that simple.
