Terrie McNutt assumes Carson City Chamber helm

The Carson City Chamber was incorporated in 1945 and has just recently installed the 65th chairman of the board.

Terrie McNutt, general manager of the Silver Oak Executive Conference Center and Silver Oak Golf, was installed as chairwoman at the Chamber Annual Meeting on June 27. She succeeds Gil Yanuck who now serves as the immediate past chairman. McNutt is the eighth female to serve as chair since 1945.

The first chairwoman, then called president, was Ella Broderick elected in 1948.

McNutt is a long time resident of Carson City and was an athletic assistant at Carson High for 13 years. She and husband Ron McNutt (aka Coach) relocated to Carson City in 1971 from Idaho.

After leaving Carson High, McNutt made her mark in the travel industry. She served as the marketing director for Frontier Tours and helped open the Courtyard by Marriott serving as the sales and marketing director. She also served in the same capacity at the Holiday Inn & Suites before taking the helm at Silver Oak.

“To continue the success the Chamber has had with community involvement and support and expand on business involvement in our everyday events within the Chamber and within the community,” said McNutt about her mission.

“Promoting Carson City has always been my passion,” she said. She strongly believes Carson City has much to offer those who wish to relocate whether for business, jobs or retirement.

“Carson City has a strong sense of community and those who wish to be involved through volunteerism can easily do so,” she added. She also encourages residents to have pride in this city citing how far Carson City has come since 1971.
