USDA is partnering with Friends in Service Helping to offer a monthly food distribution to low income individuals and families in the Carson area. Volunteers are needed every third Friday of the month from 8 to 11 a.m. to help with sign-ups and food distribution. Help keep our community fed and sign up today!

The Brewery Arts Center is looking for volunteers who are able to work in a creative environment. A variety of opportunities are available.

This year, Nevada will celebrate its Sesquicentennial (150th birthday celebration), and this coming July, Carson City has the pleasure of hosting the State Sesquicentennial Fair. Volunteer opportunities include positions in souvenir sales, grandstand shows, the exhibit hall, fair grounds, the exhibit hall gate, and valet bike parking.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is a vital community resource that helps our local community with solution based programs which are unique to each community need. The Carson City office is in need of a lunch time receptionist volunteer. Time slots are flexible and coffee and chocolate is kept on hand for volunteers.

Many home bound seniors, living independently in the community, face the challenges of isolation and experience difficultly with everyday tasks such as sorting mail, grocery shopping, and socialization. RSVP needs dedicated volunteers to help make a difference. Commitments and placements are extremely flexible.

ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada is seeking community volunteers to tutor adults in English, GED, computer, and citizenship studies. Training is provided and a minimum of a two-hour commitment per week is required. Schedule is flexible.

RSVP is seeking office volunteers to join its Carson City team. Come be a part of our family and make a difference in your community. Volunteer duties include greeting visitors, making phone calls, filing, data entry, and other office tasks. Commitments are flexible.

4-H Club leaders are needed. The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is looking for dedicated, fun, and creative individuals to lead local 4-H youth programs through the Carson City and Storey County area. Long-term and short-term program projects include small animals, pocket pets, golf, biking, AT, shooting sports, fishing, GPS/orienteering, robotics, rockets, fine arts, photography, woodworking, sewing and livestock.

All volunteers receive orientation and training. Also, volunteers can receive out of out-of-pocket expenses such as mileage reimbursement and are covered by several insurances.
