An informational meeting for parents wanting to learn more about the Nevada Performance Academy will take place at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at VT Williams and Associates, 3470 G.S. Richards Blvd.
Parents are asked to RSVP by contacting Colleen Bannister at 775-790-9679 or by email at cobanni@msn.com.
The Nevada Performance Academy plans to open this fall despite the passing of founder and former Nevada state superintendent, Gene Paslov. The school is located at 1600 Snyder Ave. The NPA currently has 70 applications and is seeking to enroll another 50 students in grades 7 through 12.
These students will be enrolled tuition free and are not required to participate or have training in the arts, although the school will be offering dance, theatre, music, and digital and visual arts in addition to the core academic curriculum.
Students will customize their schedules based on a variety of components including online classes, small classes on campus, and even classes at Western Nevada College.
