In honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, four military veterans who live in Emeritus Senior Living communities in Gardnerville and Reno will take to the skies on Friday from Reno Stead Airport.
On May 29, the veterans took flights aboard a 1942 Boeing-Stearman biplane, which was used to train many military aviators in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Friday’s flights will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A barbecue will be held at the same time to honor those who have served in the armed forces. The public is invited to attend.
The flights are sponsored by the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, a program that honors seniors and U.S. military veterans living in long-term care communities.
Emeritus Senior Living is an assisted living and memory care facility. For more information, go to www.emeritus.com.
