M1 Gaming of Reno purchasing Nugget

The Carson Nugget is in the process of being sold to M1 Gaming of Reno.

A call to the Nugget asking for confirmation of the sale was not returned, but the general manager of the casino was identified as Dean DiLullo, who is CEO of M1 Gaming in Reno.

The Nugget last year celebrated its 60th year in business, making it Carson City’s oldest continuously operated casino.

When reached Star Anderson, former general manager, said she is no longer associated with the Nugget.

DiLullo arrived to take over running the operation about a week ago. But state gaming officials said that, as of Monday, they had not yet received any paperwork on the sale or a key employee application for DiLullo — which is necessary before he can actually take control of the casino.

The Nugget was opened in 1953 by Richard Graves who also opened the Sparks Nugget with John Ascuaga. Hop and Howard Adams bought the casino in the mid-1950s. Since the deaths of Hop and Howard, the property has been operated by a trust set up by Howard’s son Alan and Hop’s wife Mae — the Mae B. Adams Trust.

M1 Gaming also owns Boomtown just west of Reno on Interstate 80 and the Reserve Casino Hotel in Central City Colorado. Boomtown was purchased in June 2012.

The Nugget property consists of 30,000 square feet of space and includes slots, table games, poker and bingo rooms, two restaurants, two cafés, meeting space and an 81-room hotel.
