Train showcase set for July 4 weekend

The Nevada State Railroad Museum will showcase several of its trains for the July 4 weekend.

Steam locomotives V&T No. 25 and Inyo will operate along with the historic, self-propelled McKeen Motor Car on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Rides will be available behind the V&T No. 25 and on the McKeen car every 45 minutes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Inyo, which will be displayed throughout the day, will be on the tracks from 9 to 10 a.m.

New this year, the Glenbrook steam locomotive, whose current restoration is being sponsored by the E.L. Wiegand Foundation, will be outside for photo opportunities.

There will be antique cars and other attractions. Merchandise honoring Nevada’s 150th birthday will be available. Members of the Warren Engine Company will barbecue and sell refreshments to raise funds for their organization.

Admission cost $15 for adults; $10 for museum members; $5 for children 3-17 and free for those two and younger. Admission includes unlimited train rides and entrance to the museum’s Jacobsen Interpretive Center, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the event.
