Dickson Commercial makes move to heart of Reno

Dickson Commercial is pushing the boundaries of downtown and Midtown redevelopment farther to the east with its plans to renovate a 1980s-era office building at 333 Holcomb Ave.

The building about a block south of the corner of Holcolm and East Liberty Street will become the headquarters of Dickson Commercial, which is part of Reno-based Dickson Realty.

Tom Fennell, a broker with Dickson Commercial, said the investor group that purchased the 14,017-square-foot building plans an exterior facelift as well as improvement of its parking lot and lighting.

Interior remodeling will be driven by the needs of tenants, Fennell said.

The building currently is largely vacant except for office space occupied by Sitkoff & O’Neil CPAs.

Fennell said a Dickson Realty residential sales office will be housed on the first floor of the building. Dickson Commercial will occupy the second floor. The 5,500-square-foot third floor will be available for lease.

Frank Lepori Construction Inc. of Sparks will oversee design-build work on the renovation.

Fennell said firm’s leaders began thinking about moving the headquarters of Dickson Commercial from its current location in the Damonte Ranch area about six months.

They decided fairly quickly that they wanted to be downtown.

“We are and always have been a locally owned Reno firm, we believe in the future of Reno’s downtown and Midtown districts and we want to be a part of that future and growth,” Fennell said.

Unlike many Midtown-area offices that have been converted from homes or other uses, the Holcomb Avenue property is a traditional freestanding office building.

“It’s right in downtown and Midtown, but it has good parking and good accessibility,” Fennell said.

The building was developed to house a law practice and later was home to Washoe County School District offices.

Dickson Realty will continue to operate a residential sales office at the Damonte location even after the commercial brokerage moves downtown.
