RENO — A winter-weather advisory went into effect at 5 a.m. today for Lake Tahoe and much of the Sierra’s eastern front, where up to a foot of snow was expected by Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service says the heaviest snow is expected during the day today.
Between 2 and 4 inches of snow is expected at lake level at Tahoe. Rain is expected in the valleys around Reno and Carson City.
The advisory stretches as far north as Susanville, Calif., south to Mammoth Lakes and as far east as Lovelock through 5 a.m. Thursday.
In southern Nevada, high wind advisories remain in effect for northeast and western Clark County and southern Nye County.
