A farmer in Reno lost a couple head of valuable stock through the depredation of thieves. He told Casper Bruner, a German rancher, that he would give $100 for the capture of the thieves. The family consists of a father, mother and two six-foot daughters. Alexander Ward and Charles Mathews started toward Washoe Lake to look at some ledges that had been uncovered and they left Reno on saddles horse, stopping at Bruner’s house. Bruner judged that they were cattle thieves and invited them in to take lunch. He and his wife threw ropes over them and with the help of the daughter bound the pair and placed them in an old shed. His wife and daughters guarded them with clubs and axes. (Continued on Saturday.)

Wils Brougher is a good road advocate. He says that improvements should be made, especially in front of the Arlington. He had the road scraped during the wet weather, but it is worn down again. Mr. Brougher said he would meet the city half way if they would round off the one block of road in front of the Arlington and put a proper foundation under it, he will oil that piece of ground at his own expense. An oiled road is the best that has been found as it everlastingly kills dust.

The OPA sets prices for radio tubes for replacement in civilian radio and radio-phonograph sets. They will reflect 1942 prices. The new ruling also specifies that the dealer may make no charge for testing tubes that are brought to his shop by a customer.

David Hall, a Carson City High School senior, won the Lions Club area speech contest in Sacramento. Hall plans to attend Brigham Young University in Utah.
