YERINGTON — The trial for a 25-year-old man charged with killing five people around Fernley during a May 2013 weekend rampage has been delayed again.
Lyon County prosecutors say Jeremiah Bean will be evaluated to determine if his mental capacity is high enough to make him eligible for the death penalty.
KRNV-TV reports the evaluation will take place between now and Aug. 21.
In November, Bean pleaded not guilty to 19 counts, including murder, grand larceny and arson.
His trial had been scheduled to begin on Monday. A January trial date also was postponed.
Bean is charged with killing two couples in two homes in rural Fernley and a newspaper delivery man at an Interstate 80 exit east of Reno near the Mustang Ranch brothel.
