The graphics design department is looking for people that are proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite, including PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator. Applicants must be detail oriented, have the ability to multi task, be self motivated, dependable and able to work under the high stress of meeting daily deadlines. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Experience with advertising is helpful, but not necessary.
The circulation department seeks people to represent SNMG at community functions and obtain new partnerships that boost its brand and build relationships with store vendors and maintain racks. Independent contractor opportunities are available in Carson City and Douglas County.
The press room is looking for mail room inserters and drivers. Applicants must be highly motivated and detail oriented. Qualified candidates should have strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment while repetitively bending, twisting and lifting. Driver responsibilities include moving large and heavy pallets in and out of a 26-foot, manual transmission, box truck, completing daily trip logs and truck safety inspections checklists. The right candidate must be comfortable operating a manual transmission with air brakes and is someone proficient at installing and removing chains during the winter driving conditions. Drivers must beat least 25 years of age and provide proof of a valid driver’s license and clean driving record along with application. Pre-employment drug tests are required.
Outside advertising sales is responsible for selling advertising for newspaper and internet to local merchants. Professionals with experience in print or digital marketing are preferred; however, the quality of a person has more to do with his or her hiring than experience.
Inside advertising sales positions sell advertising to local business by phone and email. Representatives create advertising plans for customers using both newspaper and digital media. These jobs have an existing client base which grow by focusing on customer needs and creating effective marketing solutions. This group of advertisers generally prefers to work with ad executives via phone and email, but occasional face-to-face interactions are expected. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent outbound phone and email sales.
