James Arden has been named general manager of Northern Business Weekly.
A third-generation Nevadan and native of Reno, Arden comes to NNBW from a position as financial analyst with Swift Communications, the parent company of NNBW. He also has worked as finance director of Swift Communications’ Sierra Nevada Media Group.
Before beginning his career in the media sector, Arden held financial positions of growing responsibility of the Nevada Department of Transportation and held a finance position with a company that develops software for facilities management companies.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in managerial finance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He also is a graduate of the Swift Enterprise College, which identifies the company’s next generation of leadership.
Arden and his wife, Kim, live in Reno. They are the parents of four children — Tyler, Daniel, Maggie Rose and Emily.
“I am very energized by this opportunity, and I look forward to addressing the challenges ahead,” Arden said.
Arden succeeds Rick Carpenter, who resigned as publisher in October to accept a newspaper position in Sumter, South Carolina.
