Blockade. The driver of Benton’s stage was coming down from the mountain when a man on horseback coming from Swift’s Station told him the road was blockaded by trees which had blown across a point beyond Swift’s Station. A force of hands was sent up to clear it away.

Need wives. There is a scarcity of young women in Apache County. Deputies were selected to come east to secure wives for subscription. Photographs and recommendations from township officers were provided. Their expenses to Apache County will be paid immediately.

Front bench row. The front benches in the Opera House have been occupied by a number of ladies — first made by the mayor and his wife and Mr. and Miss Vanderleith. Others came into line and the row filled up fast. It is considered as the locality where the real hollaprodida can be found when the curtain raises. The advantage claimed for the locality is that you don’t have a lot of heads obstructing the view, and you get a convenient place to rest your feet. You can hear the caustic comments of the boys behind you and can also eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor.
