Nevada’s tourism industry is recovering to pre-recession levels, and representatives of the industry will look for tips to power future growth during the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
The event sponsored by the Nevada Commission on Tourism runs Oct. 27-28 at Atlantis Casino Resort.
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, who chairs the commission on tourism, said the conference will focus on ways of improving the visitor experience.
For instance a panel featuring Madeleine Pickens of Mustang Monument at Wells and Rob Hendricks of the Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno will discuss the creation of unique lodging experiences.
Additional speakers include management consultant Joe Veneto of the Experience Lab, Gary Oster of the U.S. Travel Association and digital marketing expert Kyle Lacy.
Grammy award-winning composer Eric Whitacre, who hails from Yerington, will deliver the keynote.
Best known for his “Virtual Choir,” Whitacre also has made his mark as an inspirational speaker.
The conference will provide tourism executives from Nevada a chance to meet with nearly 40 tour operators, receptive operators, wholesalers, and airlines from around the world.
Durng the marketplace, Nevadans will have one-on-one appointments with buyers from Brazil, China, Mexico, South Korea, and the United States.
