Entrepreneurship Nevada, an association of entrepreneurial support organizations, is creating an asset map for entrepreneurs to quickly and easily access different resources, such as financing, and seeks to expand the map with community input.
The goal of the project, says Mark Pingle, professor of entrepreneurship and economics at University of Nevada, Reno, is to develop the asset map in conjunction with entrepreneurs currently working on startups. The map will serve as an informational hub for entrepreneurs — users will get the physical location of a given asset, as well as mailing address, email address and phone number, a short description of the asset and a website link.
“Entrepreneurship at UNR will be a tremendous resource, working with Entrepreneurship Nevada and its many community partners, when it comes to providing more systematic support for entrepreneurs,” Pingle says. “This asset map is one important component of the system.”
The map is fluid, Pingle notes, and may change as users provide feedback and new assets are added to the map.
“How exactly the assets will be presented is yet to be determined,” Pingle says. “One feature we know we will have is a search function, and the assets will be grouped into categories to help people search.”
