Patty Clark gives big to Austin’s House

Patty Clark, founder of the Austin Kirby Foundation, recently donated $35,000 to Austin’s House, an emergency children’s shelter on the border of Carson City and Douglas County.

Clark and her colleagues at Century 21 Clark Properties work for the entire year to raise donations for Austin’s House with fundraisers and direct requests. The Austin Kirby Foundation is the largest single donor for Austin’s House.

“We are so thankful to Patty Clark and everyone at Century 21 Clark Properties,” said Conrad Buedel, president of the Austin’s House Board of Directors. “The donations from Patty and the Austin Kirby Foundation allowed Austin’s House to be constructed at least two years ahead of schedule. Patty has supported our cause in so many ways that we can never thank her enough.”

Austin’s House, the only emergency children’s shelter in Northern Nevada, keeps its doors open through donations of cash, food, clothing and other basic necessities. It’s named in honor of Clark’s grandson, Austin Kirby. Children are placed there after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The nonprofit shelter provides the basic living necessities, including proper nutrition, hygiene, rest, nurturing, recreation, companionship, education, and life skills training.

The facility has cared for more than 350 children since opening in Sept., 2007.
