A bird’s-eye view of Carson City has been executed by Mr. Augustus Koch, which he proposes to have lithographed, if he receives sufficient encouragement to warrant the expense. It undertakes to exhibit every street and building in Carson, and is a handsome picture.

An Irishman in Tuscarora writes a letter taking issue with the Appeal for holding that American sympathy should be with England in case of war with Russia. “In conclusion, I beg to inform the Carson Appeal that the only sympathy true Americans owe to Great Britain, is shot and shell.” — Irishman.

100 years ago

The I.W.W.’s, who did more to hurt Nevada in 1907-08 than did the financial panic, are again preparing for a rain on this state. They have been organizing slowly for a couple of years and small bunches have caused periodic trouble in Tonopah, Goldfield and one or two towns in the east part of the state.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died late this afternoon from a cerebral hemorrhage at Warm Springs, Ga. Harry S. Truman now becomes president.

A nuisance ordinance to replace one declared unconstitutional was passed by Carson City trustees last night. The new ordinance prohibits keeping horses, goats, cows, sheep, mules, pigs, rabbits or fowl within 170 feet of another dwelling house.

A Utah man was killed early this morning in a two-car collision on icy Interstate Highway 80, 22 miles east of Wells to bring the traffic death toll to 35.
