Reno will be lighting company’s West Coast base

A Florida lighting company said it will open a new advanced manufacturing and distribution center in Reno in early September.

With six employees to start, Industrial Lighting Products anticipates creating a total of 20 jobs by the end of year two, the firm announced th last week in a joint statement with the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

According to a statement, ILP is also bringing an initial investment of $60,000 in capital equipment to its new operation located on Rock Boulevard. ILP’s short term goal is to grow to full product manufacturing like its primary location in Florida, which will increase the capital equipment to roughly $500,000.

Since its inception in 2003, ILP has been focused on manufacturing high-efficiency lighting products for a wide variety of commercial applications, providing a line of fluorescent, induction and LED fixtures on the market. The company’s growing customer base is largely due to development of energy-efficient lighting fixtures using LED technology, according to ILP, whose customer-base currently spans the entire U.S., Canada, Central and South America and includes well-known companies like Chrysler, Duracell, Black and Decker, 3M, Dannon and Walt Disney World.

“The new Reno facility will allow us to be strategically located to better meet the needs of our West Coast customers,” said Torey Brewer, regional manager, in a statement. “Lower operating costs and a business-friendly environment were also key factors in our decision to move to Reno.

“We are in a building mode now but we forecast our operations to ramp up quickly as we continue to accommodate the demands of the western market. We are currently utilizing the resources of Chartwell Staffing Solutions for our employment needs and we will continue to as we are very pleased with the result.”
