Building upon a legacy of excellence, Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed Regional Medical Center on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. Over the past decade, Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has grown into one of Northern Nevada’s premier healthcare destinations, earning numerous awards and accolades affirming its outstanding patient care, leading-edge medical expertise, and ultra-modern healing environment.

From the beginning, CTH was built on a firm foundation of community support and patient-centered care, which sparked the opening of the first 10-bed county hospital in 1949. As the region continued to grow, the medical staff and services became more diversified, until the day came in the early 2000s when the decision was made to build an 80-acre master-planned medical campus and state-of-the-art medical center. Embarking on the journey to expand the Medical Campus allowed CTH to lead the community into the next era of healthcare and technological advancements by bringing critical services to the region’s doorstep.

Since opening the Regional Medical Center and Medical Campus in 2005, CTH has created premier open heart and endovascular surgery programs, developed a 5-Star Women’s and Children’s Center, and established a first-rate affiliation with the world-class University of Utah Health Care and Huntsman Cancer Institute to expand access to higher levels of care and expertise. As the second-largest employer in the community, CTH continues to be dedicated to ensuring the Northern Nevada region is a healthy place to live, work, and play.

“Carson Tahoe Health is a comprehensive network delivering compassionate care to local families — including our own,” said Ed Epperson, president and CEO of Carson Tahoe Health. “With more than 1,600 employees, we not only provide exceptional service within our health system, but within our community as well. Through partnerships, volunteerism, and engagement, we help make our region a better place to live. We are honored to be celebrating ten years of health and healing at our beautiful Medical Campus.”

Ranked fifth most beautiful hospital in the nation by Soliant Health, Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center became the state’s first “Baby-Friendly” designated hospital in 2013. Additionally, Carson Tahoe Sierra Surgery, the boutique elective surgery arm of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, received the HealthInsight Hospital Quality Award for outstanding patient care. Another highlight of the campus has been the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, where patients can experience complete cancer treatment, intervention, support and after-care under one roof. As CTH moves beyond the 10-year milestone, the leaders and staff remain committed to pursuing innovative solutions in the ever-changing healthcare landscape while providing exceptional patient care.

Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center is a three-story, 352,000 square foot facility set on an 80-acre medical campus in North Carson City. The center features 153 acute care beds and is home to more than 240 board-certified physicians in 35 medical specialties.
