USDA sets energy grant workshops

USDA Rural Development has scheduled a series of video-conference workshops to help farmers and rural business owners qualify for the federal energy grants program.

The Rural Energy For America program grants are available for up to 25 percent of the cost of buying and building or enhancing alternative energy systems to reduce energy costs.

The grants can be applied for solar, wind, hydro-power, improved lighting and HVAC systems among others.

The workshops will be presented vis video-conference at Farm Service Centers in Fallon, Elko and Las Vegas. They also will be available at the Rural Development Office in Carson City.

The workshops are scheduled for: Jan. 19, 10-11;30 a.m., Feb. 11 and March 8 from 1-2:30 p.m.; and March 30 from 10-11:30 a.m.
