Austin’s House and Carson City Toyota Scion will celebrate the atmosphere of Bourbon Street in New Orleans on Fat Tuesday at their seventh annual Cowboy Mardi Gras fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.
The event offers food, music, dancing, raffle prizes and a silent auction and benefits the emergency children’s shelter, which keeps its doors open through donations, including a $4,000 contribution from Carson City Toyota Scion to help put the fundraiser on.
“Donating back to the community is a 30-year tradition at Carson City Toyota Scion,” said General Manager Dana Whaley. “It starts with our owner Dick Campagni and we are proud to assist worthy non-profits like Austin’s House.”
The Cowboy Mardi Gras party starts at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by a western barbecue dinner of sirloin beef, pork ribs and fried chicken with all the trimmings. Beer, wine and cocktails are also available.
After dinner, the party hits full stride with music and dancing. Raffle prizes will be drawn every 30 minutes. The silent auction offers prizes donated by local businesses.
There will be a grand prize drawing for a Disneyland vacation package valued at $1,548. The package includes four Disneyland Resort Park Hopper tickets worth $137 each to visit both Disneyland Park and the Disney California Adventure Park plus a $500 Visa card for expenses. The winner does not need to be present at the fundraiser.
Disneyland grand prize tickets are available for $20 each from Austin’s House or from any member of its Board of Directors.
Admission to the fundraiser is $60 per person. Tables of 10 are available for $600. Only 200 tickets are going to be sold and, less than 30 tickets are still available.
