150 Years Ago

Injured ladies. Mrs. John B. Winters and Mrs. Dr. Ross from Gold Hill were in a buggy driven by Mr. D. Mahoney when they came close to the Savage dump and the horses started to run. They ran down B Street and finally came to the Fountain Head Restaurant when they were headed and stopped when the wheel struck a post next to the sidewalk. All three were violently thrown out of the buggy.

Local notes. Wanted — A good carriage painter. Frank Boskowitz, the man who looks like the Jack of Spades, is in town. A new sidewalk is going down in front of the Arlington. Dick Thomas, injured by a falling rock, is now out of danger.

110 Years Ago

All sorts. The pole setting for the Nevada Power Company’s 80-mile line from Bishop Creek to Goldfield is finished. The wires have been strung for 60 miles.

70 Years Ago

Contest. The “What is the matter with Carson” contest sponsored by the Lions Club, was won by two youth. The winners are John Chartz, attorney, and James Allen, recent graduate of Carson High School. Each will receive $7.50 of the $15 prize.

50 Years Ago

Vital statistics (births). To the Bromans, a son, Ski James, born to Mr. and Mrs. James Richard Broman of Tahoe Valley, Calif. To the Aguilars, a son, William Shawn, born to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Edgar Aguilar of Tahoe Valley, Calif.

Radio stations resold. KZZP FM and KPTL AM employees showed up for work for new owners, but discovered the stations had been sold to even newer owners. The station were bought from real estate developer Dwight Millard by Moon Broadcasting of Los Angeles. A minute after midnight Roy Williams, president and general manager of Silverado Broadcasting in Stockton, Calif., purchased the stations again.
