150 Years Ago

Japhet in search of father. The Virginia City stage drove into town and stopped at Tufly’s Hotel. A lady passenger got out and left some parcels and a little boy, aged three. Tufly was suspicious that the foundling might be left with him and put him back on the stage. It was discovered later that the child was to be adopted by a lady at Glenbrook House.

Camping out (continued). “The condensed milk is all out and a rainstorm coming on. I’m worked almost to death ... It takes them two hours to dress like they were at Long Branch. Mrs. — is trying to sketch the mountain scenery. I got hold of a sketch yesterday ... it looks like mashed spiders.”

Shooting at Goldfield. W. J. Dixon was drunk when he slapped Albert Moore on the back. Moore became angry and shot Dixon who was hit three times. Before Dixon died he exonerated Moore and stated he did not want him arrested.

Photo caption. Thousands of lobsters were cast up on the beach near Santa Monica Canyon, Calif., and for hours men, women and children swarmed over the beach to gather “ration-free” sea gifts.

Napster. Napster Inc. was shut down for the trading of music. It was accused of “wholesale infringing” against music industry copyrights.
