Cabela’s is holding two classes in wilderness first aid at its Reno location.
The first class spans two nights, June 23 and June 25 from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each night with a break in the middle. The second class is June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a lunch break.
The class provides information on how to handle common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour or more away. It will teach you what to look for and what to do in emergencies. The class also contains updated information on CPR and emergency cardiovascular care guidelines. The class is being taught by paramedic and first-aid instructors.
The cost of the class is $85, and those who complete the class receive certification from the Emergency Care Safety Institute. Cabela’s gift cards and an emergencywild.com t-shirt will be raffled off for those in attendance.

Farcello group wins tourney
Sue Farcello and Crystal Jackson (plus a blind draw) shot a net 121 to win the Silver Oak Women’s Golf Club 2-best ball tournament recently.
Cheryl Stoddard, Carli Vandervort and Nancy Mortensen tied for second with the team of Tina Luce, Vicki Barbaria and Terri Paden. Both groups shot 124.
• Don Fox shot a net 62 to win Flight 1 at the Silver Oak Senior Men’s Club stroke play tournament on June 9. Fox beat Alex Talmant and Lew Dodgion by one stroke. Vern Payette was fourth with a 64.
Pat Lantis won Flight 2 with a 60, one shot better than Steve Alcalay and four better than Gary Curti and Wilbur Keating.
• Silver Oak is holding a Glow Golf Tournament July 3 at 8:30 p.m.
The 9-hole event includes range balls, cocktails and appetizers, raffles and prizes. The cost is $75 per person, $65 for members and $50 for passport holders,

Essary quartet wins at CVGC
The foursome of Dan Essary, Marc Menezes, Jack Sparman and Charles Poe shot a net 220 to win Flight A of the 4-man blind draw event at Carson Valley Golf Club.
Mike Davis, Dennis Patterson, Kim Epstein and Glen Watson were a stroke back at 221.
John Pearson, David Morris, Bill Allen and Brick Ludington shot 210 to win Flight B, a stroke ahead of Roger Hala, Bob Van Nort, Matt Budjako and Matt Lindsey. Paul Finan, Larry Lockwood, Jim Tavernier and Neil Bain won Flight C with a 228 and Gerry Bing, Paul Lockwood, John Carey and Joe Morrison were second at 233.
• Glen Watson won Flight A via tiebreaker over Jack Sparman in a blind nine format held at Carson Valley on June 14. Both players shot 34s.
Charles Poe won Flight B with a 35, one shot better than Brick Ludington. John Carey shot 34 to win Flight C by one shot over Neil Bain. Larry Lockwood won Flight D with a 35, two strokes ahead of Jim Tavernier.
McGee, Andersons excel at Thunder Canyon
Mike and Betty McGee and John and Mary Anderson shot a net 60 to win the Jack and Jill tournament at Thunder Canyon.
Charlie and Kathy Cockerill and Dave and Brooke Nielsen were second at 64 along with Bill and Barbee Waldren and Larry and Bev Champagne, and Glenn and Denice Tsuda and T.C. and Carol Boice.
