Picnic. The members of the Carson Turn-Verein hold a picnic today at Lake Bigler. We understand that some 20 or 30 couple of ladies and gentlemen will join in the festivities.

Horse races on the fourth. Posters have just been printed for the races in Genoa on the 4th and 5th of July. A great deal of work is being done on the track and it will be in excellent condition for the fleet race animals that are now in training.

100 years ago

Little Joe, the young son of Sheriff Stern, met an unfortunate accident last evening when he was attacked by a savage dog and received a number of painful lacerations about the throat. The youngster was entering the Sangar home in comany with Miss Sanger, when the dog made a rush at him. The dog, a cross between shepherd and spitz, was later taken out and killed.

70 years ago

Leslie P. Springmeyer, carpenter’s mate first class, USNR, who was formerly employed by the state highway department, is now in Pearl Harbor serving in the real estate division of the 14th naval district.
