RENO — Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says a hang-glider has been found dead near Slide Mountain.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that sheriff’s office spokesman Bob Harmon says the adult man was found Friday after reports that his glider went down around 1:30 p.m.
He says the man was discovered by air at 4 p.m. on the south side of the Slide Mountain ski area. Several agencies and groups of volunteers had been unable to locate him through a ground search.
Two trained volunteers had to be lowered in to recover the man’s body because the glider went down in a rugged area. The body was then transported by helicopter to the Washoe County Medical Examiner and Coroner’s Office.
Harmon says an investigation is underway.
