Tonya Champa has been named advertising director of the Nevada Appeal in Carson City and the Lahontan Valley News in Fallon.
She follows Pat Bridges who will serve full time as publisher of The Record-Courier in Gardnerville. All three publications are part of the Sierra Nevada Media Group (SNMG).
Champa, who grew up in Washoe Valley, begins her new role effective today.
“My successes have been achieved through the support and leadership of many great leaders within Swift Communications and I will be forever grateful,” she said. “I can only hope to inspire and lead the Nevada Appeal and Lahontan Valley News teams in such a fashion. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead such a great group of incredibly talented people. I am eager for the journey that’s ahead and can’t wait to celebrate the successes.”
Champa, past retail advertising manager for the Nevada Appeal, is a 2006 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. She has a bachelor’s of science, business administration degree in marketing. She has been with the Appeal since Sept., 2009.

Champa and her husband Nate are the parents of Kade, 3. Champa enjoys the rodeo, having participated in college and high school, and the abundance of outdoor activities that Northern Nevada offers.
