Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Friday a body found Tuesday near a walking trail near Newridge Drive and Northridge Drive, north of the Lone Mountain Cemetery was of a woman.

The body was found in a shallow gravesite wrapped in a sleeping bag.

An autopsy performed at the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office revealed a female with reddish/blond hair, between 5-foot 2-inches to 5-foot 8-inches tall. She was wearing an adult diaper, white Asics shoes — size 7 with purple lines, size 8 rings, and Aristar bifocals glasses with 135mm inscription, and partial top dentures.

The autopsy remains open and active.

Furlong said in a press release the female victim may have been associated with the local homeless population. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Acosta 775-283-7855 or acosta@carson.org or 775-887-2008.
