Koch Business Solutions has opened an information technology support office in Reno for Koch Industries and its companies around the world. The business is expected to have up to 20 employees at its office, which is located at 5905 S. Virginia St., Suite 200.
Announcement of Koch’s entry into the market was recently made at the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada Investors Lunch at the Peppermill Resort Casino and Spa.
“KBS chose Reno because we want to recruit IT professionals who can help us start at the forefront of technology,” said Kevin Spiares, director of technology services for KBS, who will manage the office.
“We expect the office to be a technical hub, so we need employees who are focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.”
A new recruiting campaign focuses on both the start-up mentality and the relaxed office environment that KBS hopes Reno professionals will find appealing.
Spiares added that being a part of one of the largest private companies in the U.S. means employees will be working on multi-million dollar projects and have access to the support and resources necessary to do the job correctly.
“We’re providing Koch companies with support in the areas of applications development, cyber-security, global network architecture and various cloud, virtual and converged platforms,” said Spiares. “We need employees who will help us continue to solve problems and prepare for future needs. Reno has a proven reputation as a tech community on the cutting edge, and that’s why this is the perfect place for us.”
The company’s decision to do business in northern Nevada was hailed by EDAWN’s top official.
“The selection of Reno as the location for the satellite applications center of Koch Business Solutions is an incredible validation of the growth of IT in the region,” said, Mike Kazmierski, CEO of EDAWN. “Koch is number two on Forbes’ list of America’s largest private companies, so to be selected by a company of this caliber just reinforces the latest success in the region following recent announcements by Switch, Tesla, Apple and others.”
