Can’t sell booze to women. The Reno City Council will act on an ordinance preventing the sale of liquor to women by saloons, restaurants and wine houses. This is to prevent the existence of the notorious wine rooms patronized principally by women.

Infantile paralysis. Dr. E. E. Hamer, state health officer, received a telegram from Washington, D.C., reporting new cases of infantile paralysis: California — 20; Kentucky — 15; New York — 158. It is feared that before long cases may be reported in Nevada.

Cash for Kathy. Two additional checks totaling $600 will be presented to Miss Kathy Blaikie as a “welcome home” gift to Miss Nevada of 1965.

Big hole. The collapsed earth ceiling of the abandoned Osbiton Shaft of the Best Belcher Mine is about a 25-foot-wide sinkhole at the end of Washington Street in Virginia City (the parking lot in back of the high school).
