Nevada motor fuels pump price keeps receding

Nevada’s pump price for gasoline fell 5.8 cents per gallon in the past week, according to a survey of 1,130 gas outlets released Monday.

The price in the Silver State hit $3 per gallon, GasBuddy.com, the survey website, said of results in the survey completed on Sunday. Nationally, the same website reported, the price fell 3.7 cents a gallon in the same period and reached $2.29 a gallon.

“The national average gasoline price had a solid decline in the last week thanks to renewed pessimism in the oil patch after the Fed’s (Federal Reserve’s) decision to hold interest rates steady,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com petroleum analyst. He said nearly a quarter of all stations nationally are selling gasoline at under $2 per gallon even as the overall national average dipped below $2.30.

In Carson City, as is normally the case, all of the outlets surveyed on Monday fell between the national and state averages. The price range for the capital community was listed at 25 outlets as a low of $2.45 a gallon and posted a high of $2.81 a gallon.

Including the changes in Nevada statewide gas prices the past week, according to GasBuddy.com, the cost last weekend in the Silver State had fallen more than 55 cents per gallon from the level of a year earlier and was more than 18 cents below the level of a month earlier.
